Roger Verdi holds a BA from Drew University and MMA from the Manhattan School of Music. His teachers included Edward Erwin, Hal Janks and Albert Lube. He is an active free-lance musician in the New York /New Jersey area. Ensembles he has performed with include: the New Jersey Symphony, American Ballet Theater, the Allentown Symphony, The new Jersey Festival Orchestra, the New Philharmonic of New Jersey, the Riverside Symphony, the New Jersey State Opera, the Hawthorne Symphony, the Bridgeport Symphony, the Garden State Philharmonic, the Princeton Symphony, the Princeton Pro Musica, the New Jersey Pops, the Newark Cathedral Orchestra, the Delaware Symphony, North South Consonance, the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players, the Village Light Opera Group, Ars Nova Singers, the Westfield Oratorio Society, the Greenwich Symphony, the Greenwich Choral Arts Society, the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, the Garden State Band, and many others. In November of 2006, he performed Ferdinand David’s Concertino for Trombone and Orchestra with the New Sussex Symphony in Newton New Jersey. He is a founding member of the Modern Brass Quintet, and has performed with that ensemble at the 92nd Street Y Greenwich House, Merkin Hall, the Kosciuszko Foundation, the Storm King Arts Center, the Lincoln Center Library, as well as many other venues. He has recorded widely for the Newport Classics and Koch International labels. A veteran touring musician, he has traveled the United States many times performing opera and musical theater. His activities include many different styles of music; he has toured the world with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, performed in the orchestra for Ringling Bros. Circus, and recorded CDs for the Chico Mendoza and David Cedeno Orchestras.
His CDs, Looking Ahead: Works for Trombone, released in 2007, and Taking Steps: Works for Trombone, released in 2009, have won critical acclaim and sold internationally. His third, Almost Home, was released in June, 2010, and his fourth, American Works for Trombone, was released in 2015. His fifth, American Works for Trombone Vol. 2, is pending.
Pianist Martha Locker performs frequently as a soloist in the United States and abroad. She has appeared as soloist with the Pittsburgh, Knoxville, and Westmoreland Symphony Orchestras, with Orchestra Nova, the New Juilliard Ensemble, the New York University Symphony Orchestra, and at the Kyoto International Music Festival. An avid chamber musician and performer of contemporary music, she plays regularly at Juilliard, New York University, Bargemusic, Symphony Space, Greenwich House, and Bloomingdale House. She was a fellow of the Tanglewood Music Center and participated in the Sarasota, Chautauqua, and Eastern Music Festivals. She has been a guest artist of the NYU Summer String Quartet Institute, the University of Maryland Summer Percussion Seminar, and the Alessi Trombone Seminar. Martha Locker holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Juilliard School and an Advanced Certificate in Music Education from NYU. Her teachers include Peter Serkin, Emanuel Ax, Jacob Lateiner, Jerome Lowenthal and Miyoko Lotto. She is an adjunct faculty member at NYU and at the Packer Collegiate Institute.
Tickets are $20 for General Admission, $15 for Friends of the Sanctuary, and only $5 for school and college students with ID. Tickets may be purchased online below by selecting your ticket option and clicking on the “Buy Now” link to use credit or debit card or your PayPal account. If ordering two or three ticket types, each type must be purchased in a separate order. You will receive an email confirmation of each purchase from PayPal. WE DO NOT MAIL TICKETS. Online tickets will be held at the box office; please print and bring your receipt in case it is needed to confirm your purchase.
GROUP RATES are available. Choose the Group ticket option and each ticket will have a $5 discount from the General Admission price (same as the Friends of the 1867 Sanctuary ticket price)! Group rate tickets must be purchased in quantities of 10 or more within a single purchase. Group rates apply only to advance online sales and cannot be purchased at the box office prior to the concert. Groups must present themselves at the box office at the same time. For group orders of fewer than 10 people, the full General Admission rate (less the amount prepaid) may be required at the box office at the time of admission. Group rates do not apply to Student prices.

The 1867 Sanctuary is air conditioned and is wheelchair accessible using the ramp on the left side of the building.
