The 1867 Sanctuary is available to rent for a variety of occasions and uses. It is a fitting location for special events such as weddings, memorial services, dedications, and other gatherings. Its excellent acoustics make it perfect for recitals and rehearsals, as well as public or private meetings, talks or functions.
Weddings
The simple elegance and beauty of the 1867 Sanctuary provide the perfect backdrop for your wedding, and a warm and welcoming location for special ceremonies large and small. Air conditioned in the summer, toasty in the winter, and showered with beautiful light from the stained glass windows, it’s the perfect location all year long.
A grand piano and pipe organ are available to add musical interludes to your ceremony. The front steps offer a lovely spot for family and friends to wish you all the best as you run together to the waiting car, while the steeple bell rings out with the joy of the moment. A perfect start to your life together!
No “church membership” is required to rent the venue. You may choose your own officiant, or we can make suggestions. Flexible, reasonable rental fees are available. Contact us to schedule a visit by emailing 1867sanctuary@preservationnj.org.
Arrangements may also be made for reception space with the Ewing Presbyterian Church office across the street if desired. Separate fees apply.
Memorial Services and Funerals
The 1867 Sanctuary is a serene and respectful location to hold services in celebration or memory of the life of a loved one. We work with funeral homes, or with individuals, to accommodate your needs with whatever notice is possible. The Sanctuary seats approximately 200 people, and free parking is available across Scotch Road. A ramp is available for ease of access both for the funeral service provider, and individuals with mobility issues.

Recitals and Rehearsals
The excellent acoustics of the 1867 Sanctuary make it a wonderful space for recitals and rehearsals. Whether you’re interested in a few hours just once for a recital, or a few hours each week for a recurring rehearsal, contact us! We can give you a tour of the facility, and show you what’s possible. It’s very likely that we can work with you and your needs.
Recordings
The acoustics of the 1867 Sanctuary also make it an ideal space in which to record. Whether you wish to record a live performance, or rent the space to use as a recording studio, we can work with you and your needs. Please contact us. We can provide samples of recordings already made here.
Rates and Fees
Rates for use of the Sanctuary vary and are somewhat flexible. So please don’t hesitate to contact us and tell us your needs.
Weddings – the rate for use of the space for up to 5 hours, including rehearsal, opening and closing, and awaiting flower delivery, is $400.
Memorial Services – the rate for use of the space for up to 4 hours, including opening, closing, and awaiting flower delivery, is $400.
Recitals and Events – the use of the Sanctuary for a recital or event (not co-produced by 1867 Productions) for up to 4 hours (including opening and closing) is $250. Additional hours are charged at $50/hour.
For each of these uses, the use of the piano or organ is additional, and priced at $150 (to cover tuning). The fee for a keyboard musician is NOT included in this cost.
